From the perspective of plant life, what does climate justice mean?
Más Arte Más Acción (MAMA) presents an artistic public intervention in the Edinburgh Art Festival in partnership with Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Together with the Colombian cultural foundation MAMA I will host encounters between visitors, artists and scientists co-creating a space to experience and discuss interconnections between humans and plants in times of rapid biodiversity loss.
The installation in the form of a locally crafted circular table, will be brought to life through conversations across disciplines of art and science; a soundscape, performances and readings, and collective actions addressing the Climate Emergency, and intersecting global crises.
A marathon of voices will be an interwoven soundscape of recordings made during the festival, building upon stops at botanical conferences including Ireland, Rwanda and Spain. This evolving art work will be shared during the UN’s Biodiversity COP16 in Colombia in October, and the UN’s Climate COP30 in Brazil. This intervention builds on MAMA’s 2022 contribution for Documenta fifteen in Germany and Possible Dialogues for COP26 in Glasgow.
Join us at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, 9th – 25th August 2024
